Discussion for Waste Pickers and the Circular Economy

Thanks for the article, Terry! Great to see some original and thought provoking content popping up on the site.

My only concern is about the line that "waste picking as a profession competes with the likes of sex work and the drug trade, both of which are also very dangerous and humiliating work"

While I understand that this can be true, I fear it may offend some of our friends who choose to engage in these professions.

I'm going to change the wording of the last part a little bit, hopefully retaining the original meaning but giving a softer stance. What about, "both of which can often also be very dangerous and which are also seen by many to be humiliating lines of work?"

I'll make the change now but feedback is invited and considered!

Thanks again, man.

fair point John. this is course work, and i wasn't worried about insulting this Israeli business woman who was grading it. my appologies to anyone who was offended :(

Haha, no worries at all, Terry! I don't think anyone had time to be offended and, in all likelihood, no one would have been anyway. It's easy to let things like that slip by, and it's easy to be over-cautious as well. I know I've been guilty of both for sure. No harm done.

Thanks again for the great content, Looking forward to seeing the site fill up with more of the same!
